Researchers from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center highlighted a dietary strategy that can be applied to some people who are often frustrated with the diet.
Researchers do not limit the type of food to be eaten while on a diet, but they 'force' you to adjust the time to eat, which is to eat only during the day as you move more actively.
In the study, researchers used a new technology feeding system that uses sensors and automated equipment to examine the mice eating patterns at certain times.
The researchers found that among the five different groups of mice, only mice ate at the time of the weight loss watch. Other mice on low-calorie diets or unlimited meals, but served either on active or non-active hours, do not show weight loss and may even interfere with circadian rhythms that cause sleep problems.
"When translated into human behavior, this study shows that diet will only be effective if calories are consumed during the day when we wake up and be active," said study chief Joseph S. Takahashi, Ph.D., chair of neuroscience at UT Southwestern's Peter O ' Donnell Jr. Brain Institute.
"Eating at a time when the body does not move actively as at night, will not cause significant weight loss even if you eat the diet."
